Mardhia Hussein is a passionate environmentalist, community coordinator, and advocate for sustainable development and gender equality. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum and Energy Engineering from Sulaymaniyah Polytechnic University. She held diverse roles across the nonprofit and private sectors, including project management at the Dialogue and Culture Organization (DCO), fundraising and sponsorship coordination at NVEEE in the U.S., and procurement at FOX Refinery.
Mardhia is an alumni of the Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) Program and a European Forum Alpbach (EFA) alumna. She sits on the board of CAI – Club Alpbach Iraq and is a recognized UPG Sustainability Leader. Her innovative work earned her first place at Falling Walls Lab Iraq for her Solar Leaves project, tackling air pollution through clean technology. She has a strong record of youth advocacy and international representation, having served as a Youth Delegate to the World Forum for Democracy and as a winner of the NGO CSW/NY Global Youth Fellowship for her work on gender equality. She is also part of the 2024–2025 GYF Advisory Council for the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68).
